BPL Class conversion

Prerequisites

Before being enrolled into the BPL Balloon Class conversion training course to Hot Air Balloon, you have to meet following requirements:

• be a holder of Balloon Pilot Licence  - BPL
• be a holder of Hot-Air Airships or the Gas Balloons
• be a holder of the valid Class 1 Medical or Class 2 Medical

Content

The BPL Hot-air balloon conversion groungschool covers following topics:

• principles of flight;
• operational procedures;
• flight performance and planning;
• aircraft general knowledge with regard to the balloon class for which the extension of privileges is sought.

Training

The BPL Hot-air conversion flight training covers following areas:

• basic skills such as take-off/landing climb/descend and level flight
• approaches
• operation in low level
• navigation
• cold descend

Completion

Upon completion of the Hot-air conversion training, your privileges will be to fly the hot-air balloon class as pilot-in-command with limitation to the so-called Group A Hot-air balloons with the maximum envelope size of 3,400m³ (120,069 cuft³).
