As a Balloon Instructor you can extend your privileges to teach towards various or ratings without the necessity to provide the training under flight school umbrella. This approach gives much power to the hands of the FI(B) who decides on the training and training completion by himself. The FI(B) Tethered Rating extension is usually completed in one day. The training is competency-based. It means our course instructor builds on your competences and develops them towards the ability to teach towards the tethered trainings.
The aim of the Flight Instructor (Balloon) extension for Tethered training is to train you as holder of the FI(B) to the level of competence defined in point BFCL.325 to be able to provide the training towards the tethered flights. The course takes approximately 1 day.
To become a Balloon Flight Instructor for Tethered training extension, you shall:
Theoretical Knowledge Instruction consist of single module of Technical training. It is integrated into the long briefing of the flight exercise and taken prior to the training flight. The content of the briefings is consistent with the Exercise 18 of the EASA Tethered flight rating syllabi.
During the flight training for FI(B) extension to tethered training you will learn how to explain and demonstrate the Tethered flight techniques and apply appropriate TEM. Furthermore, you will learn how to identify student errors and how to correct them properly.
The FI(B) Tethered extension training course consists of 1 flight lasting approximately 30 minutes with associated pre-flight and postflight briefing.
The completion of the BPL Tethered flight rating training is entered in the logbook and signed by the FI(B) who is responsible for the Balloon Tethered Rating training.
